My Travel Story

Hi everyone!
I’m Ava, and I am incredibly excited to share that I’ve been given the opportunity to volunteer this January in Cape Town, South Africa, for three weeks with my friend Raena! I will be working hands-on with children from underserved communities, offering support, education, and care where it’s needed most. Many children there grow up facing poverty, limited access to education, and social challenges that no child should ever have to navigate. By volunteering, I’ll be working directly with these amazing young people, helping them learn, play, and grow in a safe, supportive environment.
From tutoring and mentoring to organizing activities that promote creativity, confidence, and connection, my goal is to show them that someone across the world cares and wants to make a real change in these children’s lives.
I chose South Africa not only for its breathtaking beauty and the chance to step outside of my comfort zone, but because I believe this experience will give me a whole new perspective on the world. I know it will challenge me, shape me, and help me grow in ways I’ll carry with me for the rest of my life as I step into adulthood.
This journey means so much to me. I’m giving it my time, energy, and heart, but I can’t do it alone. Your support will help cover essential expenses such as program fees, round-trip flights, and accommodations throughout my stay.
