George Smith's Mile per Pound Mission.
My Travel Story
In July of next year, I will be embarking on a trip to Kenya with my school, in order to volunteer at a primary school in Rift Valley. Whilst I am there I will be participating in sports coaching, teaching and construction. This trip will be great for me as it will be culturally enriching and good to help children in need.
My school has made fundraising part of the experience and despite the fact that options have been limited due to Covid, I still intend to push myself in order to raise funds. I have decided to run 1 mile for every £1 donated. This challenge will push me to run 1000 miles in less than a year. This will not be my only source of fundraising as I am planning on organsising some events in the near future so watch this space.
I am really looking forward to the trip and every £1 donated will make it possible for me. I will post regular updates of my running progress. Any sponsorships would mean the world to me.

Month One Complete
My first month of running is complete. I have run 75.5 miles this month, which is the same as the distance from central london to the brighton coast. The month has been littered with minor ilnesses, leading to some weeks with less than ideal miles, but I have began to pick it up again and am optimistic for the future. Having completed 75 miles, I need donations to keep me running more, as for every pound donated, I will run one mile. -
It Continues! Week One Complete.
After a long uncertainty as to whether my trip would happen, it has finally be confirmed that I will be able to volunteer in Kenya next summer, starting on the 24th of July.
Before then, I hope to achieve £650 by running 1 mile for every pound raised, to cover the £1000 I origionally set out to achieve, having raised £350 already. This challenge will push me to run at times when I want to do anything but that, and I hope to improve my resilience in the coming months. Any donations would go a very long way in keeping me running. Many thanks to everyone who donated during my previous stint, I love seeing everyone's support!
After a very strong start in the beginning of last week, I unfortunately got a nagging back pain which made it hard to run much at the weekend. Although I didn't reach the weekly milage I intended, I am optimistic for the future.
