My Travel Story

Hello! My name is Rylee Moore, and I am a student at Southern Utah University. My current major is General Studies, with hopes to change my major to translation and minor in either Korean or business. For over three years, I have been amazed at the idea of other languages and cultures. My love for it has grown, and I have goals related to learning multiple languages throughout my life. I have attempted to learn ASL, Spanish, and Japanese, but I needed something more suitable to start my language journey. Eventually, I tried learning Korean and have been studying for half a year. I finally found an excellent way to start, and I want to travel to South Korea to speak what I have practiced while learning much more at the university I plan to attend.

I volunteer at a food bank with my family every Monday, and many who drive through or also volunteer speak Spanish. I've also noticed so many people in my community who are not native English speakers; most speak Spanish and Korean. Knowing Korean, with plans to learn Spanish and other languages later, will significantly help me be involved with many more connections worldwide and in my community. And being able to go to a new country for the first time in my life will help my dream and motivation grow. I can't wait for the friends, people, and experiences I make while studying abroad.

Anything helps; my family is not in too much financial trouble. However, money has been a constant struggle for me as I have grown up. And because of how much my family has done for me throughout my life, I have independently decided to pay for everything myself. I will work a lot during the summer, but donations would help in many ways.
