Hello! My name is Rachel Carroll and I am currently a Senior at ASU, majoring in Anthropology with a concentration on Archaeology and a minor in History.  I have always loved history but ever since I can remember, I wanted to be a part of it.   This is why I chose to study Archaeology! I have also loved to travel, but have never had the excuse to travel because I was always working or was drowning in school work.  Being able to go on a semester abroad was just the opportunity I needed, and I always told myself that I could not graduate from undergrad without taking this opportunity.
The first country outside North America that I visited was London when I was 12 and I have loved the city ever since.  I have been back a couple of times, but I have never been able to fully immerse myself in the culture of the city.  While I have studied Anthropologie and History, I have not yet been able to put myself into a different culture, the way one can when on a semester abroad.  I also think that England is the best country for me to study in because of its abundance of museums and so many different cultures on one small island! I have chosen to pursue a career in Museum Studies and Historical Archaeology, and being able to throw myself into a new environment with thousands of years of history just makes sense, and it is just as beneficial as participating in an internship.
Throuhgout my semester in London, I will be attending Queen Mary University, which is situated in the East End of London.  I will be attending classes with subjects ranging from London's history,  its museums, as well as the history of English theater.  These are all subjects that I have been passionate about ever since I can remember, and I also plan on traveling to various European countries, such as Germany, France, and Portugal as much as possible.
I know that studying abroad is a once in a lifetime opportunity and I plan to take advantage of it both by traveling and by gaining knowledge from another university outside of the United States.  This is an opportunity that I feel will shape me both personally and professionally, and an experience that I will not be able to have again.  Studying Abroad is something I have wanted to do since I went to London for the first time and it is now a reality.  I think that this experience will change how I see my career, myself, and the world around me.
