Hello! My name is Karissa, and I'm a third-year college student earning my Bachelor's in counseling psychology. I'm absolutely thrilled to share that I've been accepted into the University of Jyväskylä in Finland to continue studying counseling psychology, and I can hardly contain my excitement. This is not just an education; it's an adventure of a lifetime that I am incredibly grateful for.

Having never traveled outside the US, this is a dream come true for me. The prospect of immersing myself in a new culture, gaining life-changing experiences, and broadening my horizons as a therapist fills me with immense joy. What better way to learn how to help people than in one of the happiest countries in the world?

As much as I would like to say I can fund this trip myself, I cannot. I'm a 4.0 full-time student who works 2 part-time jobs just to get by right now! I'm a server, and I recently started my own side business surrounding affiliate marketing. I try to save as much as I can, but I am unable to work the hours needed to make enough due to my dedication to my school work. In addition to my work, I am also Vice President of NAMI (National Alliance on Mental Illness), a national organization that provides advocacy, education, support, and public awareness on mental illnesses so that all individuals and families affected by mental illness can build better lives. If you can't tell, I really love helping people, and so I humbly ask you to help me.
