My Travel Story

My name is Michael Vidaure and I am from Phoenix. I am a freshman majoring in Sustainability B.S. and I am considering a minor in German. I plan to study in the UK during the summer of 2018. Studying abroad offers uniqueness in learning about a different culture that a traditional classroom setting cannot mimic. Immersing oneself in the culture is the best way to learn. Through the process of application one can better remember when they have a fond memory attached to the experience. The opportunity to learn about different cultures through interaction would be a dream come true as a Sustainability student. Sustainability to me is the harmonizing of nature and the man-made world. This means being able to incorporate our lifestyles into the environment in a way that will cause minimal harm to humans and the world. Meanwhile making sure there is enough resources and clean earth for future generations to be able to live in equal standards of living. I hope to become involved with nonprofit organizations to help create environmental and social justice for everyone. By sending me to the UK, I will be able to assess the environment and culture to be able to study their Sustainability practices. Creative solutions are inspired by the world around us and I plan to utlize this experience to learn new ways of practicing Sustainability. Thank you very much!
