Hey everyone, my name is Zakari Claude, and I’m an undergraduate student finishing up my first year of college. Next summer, I have the amazing opportunity to gain additional clinical experience in one of four locations: Rome, Italy; Split, Croatia; Budapest, Hungary; or Crete Island, Greece—pending availability and preference.

This will be a 3-week shadowing program designed for students who aspire to careers in medicine and healthcare.

Some background about me: I’m a pre-med student with volunteer experience in a hospital setting and currently work as a scribe in an emergency department. I decided to pursue a career in this field back in middle school, when I began watching videos from various physicians—one of my early inspirations was Dr. Pimple Popper. Since then, I’ve expanded my knowledge of medical terminology and am actively seeking a local plastic surgeon to shadow.

Coming from a diverse family that speaks multiple languages, I’ve always been fascinated by travel and cultural exchange. This opportunity would allow me to immerse myself in another country’s language, healthcare system, and everyday practices—while also enjoying the chance to be a tourist.

My goal is to raise $6,000, which would cover a significant portion of the program fees. The total cost for the program, depending on the city, ranges from $6,000 to $7,500. I’m currently saving up to cover any additional expenses, including my flights. If I weren’t also saving for a car, I would be able to contribute much more myself.
