My Travel Story

by: Aisling Taylor Start Date: Apr 8, 2018 - End Date: Jul 22, 2018

In July 2018 I will be travelling to Bali, Indonesia for 3 months to take part in a mental health placement with SLV global. SLV global provides psychology students and graduates from around the world the opportunity to gain valuable, practical experience in the mental health sector whilst being immersed in a unique and exciting culture. I am incredibly excited to have been offered this opportunity. Helping individuals less fortunate than ourselves and attempting to improve the overall understanding of mental health issues. In order to be able to carry this opportunity  I am hoping to fundraise £1,550 to cover the cost of my trip.

During my time in Bali I’ll be working with individuals suffering from a range of mental health issues, running activities and using sensory, music and creative therapies to engage with patients on a variety of wards in multiple institutions. Additionally, I will be teaching English to children and young people on vocational courses.

I aim to use my Psychology degree to put into practise what I have learnt about mental health over issues over the past three years. I want to support those whose are less fortunate than ourselves and also attempt to improve the quality of help that is already available. During my stay I will be living along side other volunteers with a Balinese family. I aim to fully emerse myself in the culture in order to make as big of a difference as I can.

All I ask from you is your support to help me fundraise this exciting opportunity. Any donations will be extremely appreciated. Alternatively, I understand this is a big ask therefore I have also set up an easy fundraising page so that every time you shop online through easy fundraising at one of the 3,300 retailers (including John Lewis, Sainsbury, Asos and a donation will be made to help fund my volunteering- and it won’t cost you an extra penny!

It’s super easy and has no hidden costs.

Go to my page: and sign up for free then shop as usual. Once you have bought your items the retailers will automatically send your donations to easyfundraising to be contributed to my volunteering fee.

If you have any further questions please feel free to contact me.
