Hello all! This October, I'm leaving for a once in a lifetime adventure - teaching English to children in Thailand! I'll be living and working in Thailand for 6 months as an English teacher at a local school. I'm still waiting on the specifics of my assignment, but will make sure to update you as I can! This opportunity will not only allow me to travel and experience life in a different culture, but also allow me to be a contributing part of a new community; a chance for growth both personally and professionally.  I'm currently taking a certification course in Teaching English as a Foreign Language (TEFL), which will allow me to be better prepared for this position. Although I've been saving for this opportunity, I will have monthly expenses in addition to the cost of the program, such as student loans, utilities, etc. The total cost of the program, TEFL course, and airfare will be around $4000. Any and all help that I receive to offset the costs will be greatly appreciated and put to good use!   • Getting Closer

    Getting Closer
    Hi everyone! I wanted to thank you all again and give you an update:
    I've officially been placed in the Chanthaburi Province, which is about 3 hours southeast of Bangkok. It's known for its "bountiful tropical fruits and seafood, stunning waterfalls, relaxed coastal region, rich history, and distinctive cultural blend ." I'll be teaching English to 3rd/4th grade at one of the public schools! I'm very excited to be teaching this age group and I'm looking forward to meeting my students! I'm almost finished with the coursework for my TEFL certification and I'm in the process of completing my practicum hours. My official departure date is October 25th - just around the corner!

    Thank you again for your help in making this opportunity a reality, I couldn't be more thankful. Visitors are always welcome :)

  • Feeling The Love

    Hi all! I've officially reached 50% funded and I'm just in awe of all of the support I've received in helping to make this dream come true. I wanted to sincerely thank all of you for your support and kind words. I'm so grateful for each and every one of you!

    Just a little update:
    I'm a little over two weeks into my TEFL certification course, and all is going well so far! I officially leave for orientation in Bangkok on October 26th! I'm still waiting on my school placement, so I'll make sure to update you when I find out.
