My Travel Story

by: Rachel Eagleton Start Date: Feb 10, 2016 - End Date: Aug 9, 2016
Hello! My name is Rachel Eagleton and I am a student at Clemson University. This summer, I have the opportunity to travel to Rio de Janeiro and teach sports to children who live in local favelas (our version of slums). Many of these children use athletics as an outlet to release stress in a safe environment or to stay out of trouble around the town. Being able to provide these kids a loving, safe, fun environment while working in sports is something I can't wait to do!

Last year, when I visited India I got the opportunity to work with kids at a local school (check out my pictures on this page!) and they changed my life. Since I left their small corner of the world, I have felt an intense urge to get back out there and give back to more people around the world. I hope this trip allows me to give freely and help the children, as well as myself, grow as human beings.

The money donated here will go towards my program fees to allow me to travel to Brazil. Once I reach my goal, any extra money will be used to buy balls, toys, and athletic supplies to bring as gifts to the children of Rio. Feel free to reach out to me with any questions. Thank you for making this trip possible, any little bit helps!
