Assalamu Alaikum from Morocco!
My Travel Story
My name is Haley and I am currently a junior at WWU studying Elementary Education, ELL, and Arabic & Islamic Studies. Some background- I am a first generation college student with 2 jobs just trying to make my dreams happen!
I'm wanting to go to Rabat, Morocco because I am not able to continue my Arabic studies this year due the my teaching program. By spending 7 weeks in Morocco, I'd be able to catch up on the Arabic courses I missed. I would be taking 105 hours of Arabic instruction, while being surrounded by the language 24/7. This program would be such a wonderful opportunity for me to get some insight into the language and region that I want to end up in.
The reason why I'm so passionate about Arabic is because I hope to teach in a refugee camp someday due to the demand for teachers from the Syrian Civil War. As of December 2016, 2-3 million Syrian children were not attending school because they have been displaced. I feel as if it is my duty to go help those children suceed by providing them with a proper education.
Even if you can only donate $.01, all is appreciated!
,شكرا
Haley
