My Travel Story

by: Karryna Austin Start Date: Apr 8, 2022 - End Date: Aug 7, 2022
Hi! My name is Karryna Austin, a recent graduate from Old Dominion University. I am a CTRS and currently work with James City County Parks & Recreation where I had the pleasure of working with individuals with disabilities in a variety of settings. Camp Webber in Anchorage, Alaska is an adapted sports camp for kids between 6-19 with visual impairments. I did this camp last summer and I learned so much (and had SO much fun!!) We played a variety of adapted sports such as goal ball, beep baseball and beep kick ball. (If you have never heard of goal ball I strongly encourage you to look it up, because it is so cool and was made for people with visual impairments.) I am asking for you help to get me there, as the expense of the plane tickets are on the volunteers. Last summer I built an amazing relationship with my camper and I would love the opportunity to go again and spend another summer with her and the other campers. If you are able to donate, please know how appreciative I am. If you are unable to donate, please just share this post with your peers! Thank you
