Hi there, my name is Alexandria Edison. I am native of Louisville, KY interested in traveling abroad in hopes of relocation to Japan. To be in a line of work in the arts and cultures of Japan is a huge interest! Here in the states, I am an artist at the beginning of a career in both the arts and community work. My occupation is at a local community center, as a youth recreational attendant. In the future I wish to continue work in the community, and see my art flourish.

The GenkiJACS program is 1 year long, with three locations. Fukuoka, Nagoya, and Tokyo. All have a unique environment, however the commonality in them is the intimate learning environment. Which have been proven more effective than larger institutions class sizes. While earning my bachelors degree, I was able to take advantage of the smaller classroom. Ultimately succeeding and feeling more comfortable with academic vulnerabilities. In high school, I took Japanese language courses, thoroughly enjoying them! Unfortunately, continuing my studies formally has not been an option. Attending the GenkiJACS school will present an opportunity to continue my studies and become familiar with the Japanese language once again.

The timeslot most preferred is October 2025, which means applications will be opening soon for this school. Traditionally, academic years begin in the fall, so it would be familiar to start then. I believe a season from now my efforts to raise and save funds will have paid off, preparing me for such an extended stay. Additionally, the chance to be a part of the autumn festivities in Fukuoka would be excellent! Exposure to cultural practices while sharpening my language skills would benefit me personally and (with good intentions) professionally!

With the help of this campaign I will experience the “total immersion” learning the Fukuoka location has to offer. I could achieve a longtime wish of becoming fluent in Japanese, receive a tailored learning plan that guarantees success, and begin my journey of working in Japan's arts and culture institutions.
