Mark stood on African soil, the heat a stark contrast to Ohio's chill. $48,000 was the figure; 90 days, two continents. First, Kenya: securing Amina's passport, a process of fees (around KES 7,550 for a 34-page passport, but much more for paperwork and unique situations) and patient navigation of bureaucracy. Then, Europe for her studies, requiring visas and living expenses for two for three months. Finally, their return to the States. Each dollar, each day, a step towards their shared future, a testament to their love across oceans. It was a costly, complex journey, but their life together made every cent worth it.
