Help get Liz to Ireland for Education!
My Travel Story
Hello! My name is Liz Baker, and I'm asking for your help - yes YOUR HELP! - to study traditional Irish music in at the Performing Arts World Academy in Limerick, Ireland this summer. I absolutely love playing music with others, and the joy it brings to the world, and cannot wait to take this chance to become a better and more informed musician! I was introduced to traditional Celtic music through my work as an accompanist at The Great Chalres Dickens Faire 6 years ago, and am so excited to finally discover more about such an excellent musical culture!
For the past 10 years, I have been a music teacher for students of all ages in the Bay Area, and am always looking for new opportunities to grow and learn with my students. By attending this program, I hope to expand my skills in musicality and theory, learn traditional music and culture from other professional musicians, and bring this new knowledge back to my music students at Village Music, so they can grow and share it with others!
The Performing Arts World Academy of Music
What is it?
The Performing Arts Music Intensive is a 2-week program designed for musicians who wish to get a deeper hands-on experience learning traditional Irish music and culture. The program centers around attending masterclasses with professional musicians who focus on a variety of instruments and techniques. By learning in the heart of Limerick itself, students get to experience the musical world both inside and outside the classroom, and see the impact of playing music with others in the real world. Being in this wonderfully enriched environment will be an excellent opportunity to learn first hand from those who know Irish music best!
Budget Summary
The program fee for Limerick's Performing Arts Program is $4,400. The roundtrip international flight will cost $1,200 and food costs for the duration of my stay is budgeted at $200. I've currently saved $500 for a deposit on the program, and will be putting all I can into the next installment.
