earthquake village in Nepal needs support
My Travel Story
I have been to Nepal 3 times as a trekker and I am so fascinated by the Nepalese culture. During my hikes in many remote places, I have noticed some kids walking with their backpacks for hours, when I asked them about their destination they reply “to school”. This was a self-awakening moment.
Why I choose this village (Saping)?
- Saping is quite remote, a little like stepping back in time 100 years. This is a traditional farming area.
- There is a primary school which offer free education to students, and has a special focus on educating children from poor families; some of the students walk 2 hours a day just to get to and from school.
- The village was badly impacted by the earthquake; around 70% of the students are still living in temporary shelters!
- Since I am capable to help and work with most needy people of remote communities either by teaching programs or community empowerment, health camps or any creative programs of interests, then why not?
- The experience will give you courage to grow ahead.
- The real volunteer in Nepal is a village volunteer who dares to go on needy places and be a local member.
- In my stay, I will visit the river banks and jungles, manage sometime to go trekking.
- The learning of new language culture and value system definitely gives me alternate angle to look at things.
