My Travel Story

I have been accepted for the opportunity of a lifetime, archaeological field school in the beautiful Orkney Islands of Scotland. At the Ness of Brodgar I will have the opportunity to excavate a Neolithic Cathedral. I am also in the process of developing a theory that could change the way we trace the spread of ideological beliefs (systems of beliefs/"religious" customs of a group) in the archaeological record, something that's never been done before.  While in field School at Willamette University's Summer Scotland Orkney Islands Ness of Brodgar program, I will have the access to interview key world renowned experts, while gaining the credentials to be able to continue on to a PhD Candidacy program, and valuable experience as well. I'm so blessed to be accepted into such a prestigious program, working with such excellent people. Currently I am a UCLA student who plans to apply to Stanford, Berkeley, UCLA and overseas programs for graduate/PhD Candidacy to continue to work on the theory of a lifetime. Scotland, the land of my ancestors as well as the place I want to eventually put down roots, may be my home for a semester next year pending acceptance into UCLA'S education abroad program. Eventually I will research there in the summers, while teaching at an accredited University in the United States. This is the beginning of a lifelong journey toward my dream of being an Archaeologist: A journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step. Please help me to achieve my dream of going to field school in Scotland, and therefor being able to go to graduate school - and be a part of research that could change anthropology profoundly. I believe in myself and hope you will too!

Thank you for all your support and generosity in helping me to achieve my dreams, from the bottom of my heart!

With Gratitude,

Bluet Coy

Got my passport!!! On my way to the North Sea! Still in need of supplies and funding for food. Paid the tuition out of pocket, really need your donations on this last leg. Please be willing to sponsor items under funding link, and a special thank you to David Coy. I'm a true under dog one of a kind fight for every opportunity, rise up stronger and faster from every set back, tough and extremely diligent. What I'm doing is one of the most difficult things that people do, and I really need the support. Please post and share. My blog is currently being worked on at tumbler and I will unveil it soon. I will be keeping a travel log. I really really really need a waterproof high quality camera to document artifacts and set myself apart in the field. It could be the difference between working there as an asset for later, or just being along for the ride. I'm in it for the long haul and I'll never give up! Thanks for the support. Share- tell all your big wig friends, lol. I'm worth it. I've fought so hard to get here, completely out of pocket, and I will do this even if I have to starve, so please help so I don't have to whole I'm there. Love you all!

My ticket is booked! I am very thankful to Shruti Greenwood for her support and contribution. I have firm faith that her support will propel me into a wonderful and successful career.

I would also like to thank Dr. Nick Card for sending me his publications via email as requested on Academia.edu. I look forward to reading them, and to the opportunity to meet you in person. Working with you has been a dream of mine since I've read your publications, everything from:

    to

"Card, N, Cluett, J, Downes, J, Gater, J & Ovenden, S, 2007 ‘ Heart of Neolithic Orkney World Heritage Site: Building a landscape’, In Larsson, M and Parker Pearson, M (eds) From Stonehenge to the Baltic: Living with Cultural Diversity in the Third Millennium BC, Brit Arch Report Inter Series 1692, 221-23"

I look forward to reading: your publication with Dr. Scott Pike et al.

"Shillito, LM, McKenzie, J, Card, N, Pike, S, and Chan, B 2015 Subsistence, technology and resource use in Neolithic Orkney: new interdisciplinary research at the Ness of Brodgar, Antiquity"

I have been very fortunate to have Dr. Scott Pike accept me into such a prestigious and distinguished program. I am thankful to Willamette University and the Summer Scotland program. I am very excited to meet my classmates and fellow field schoolers.

I would like to thank all those who are following me here and express my sincere gratitude for your donations. I am going to do as I set out to do, and just as I said I would come to California to pursue my dream of attending UCLA so to am I going to attend field school in Scotland. I would like to thank all those who have believed in me, especially my loving husband, James Williams, my wonderful mother, for whom I owe my life and an eternal gratitude for her support and encouragement, and my family. I could have asked for not better, so from my deepest - Thank you (especially Shruti - a true loyal sister whom I am blessed to share blood with - you are brilliant!!!). That includes both Greenwood and Coy clan. I would also like to thank UCLA whom has believed in me and offered me support and encouragement, not to mention a world class education.

Two more mentions of gratitude: my mentor, Dr. Charles Stanish, from whom I have learned so much. Thank you. Also, my love and gratitude to my beloved Reverend, Reverend Nancy Brown. I admire and look to you for truth in the Lord. God Bless.

One last mention of gratitude. Thank you darling Casiah for forever being my inspiration and reason for life. You are my deepest love, and my most proud accomplishment is to be your mother. I love you eternally.

    Thank you,

    Bluet
