Volunteering with young children in Tanzania, Africa.
My Travel Story
Hi, my name is Tia and I'm incredibly excited to be volunteering in Tanzania this July! This three-week trip is a dream come true. I'll be working with children in childcare settings and schools, supporting their development and helping them learn English. I'm passionate about making a real difference in the lives of others and I firmly believe that education is the key to unlocking a brighter future.
This project is particularly meaningful to me because it has always been my dream to teach which I do in the UK but this is such an amazing opportunity to offer my knowledge of teaching to others across the world. I remember my aunt volunteering in India when I was younger and I always remember how amazing I thought it was going and supporting people who are not as fortunate as us and the stories she told me about it stuck with me. This experience aligns perfectly with my own values and aspirations. I'm eager to contribute in a tangible way and witness firsthand the impact of quality care and education.
I chose Tanzania specifically because it is such a beautiful country, its wildlife and culture. I recognise the difference between the UK and Africa regarding available resources and accessing opportunities and I am looking forward to contributing to individuals through teaching. I'm fascinated by the rich culture and history of Tanzania, and I'm looking forward to immersing myself in it and learning from the local community, it is just such an amazing opportunity.
I believe I can make a difference in the community by sharing my knowledge of education with the teachers and educators in the schools while also contributing to the children’s development. I also want to be a positive and encouraging presence for the children and families. I have learnt that even small acts of kindness and support can have a ripple effect through the children, parents and community. I also hope to learn a great deal from the community, gaining a deeper understanding of their challenges and triumphs which will help me contribute more effectively. This experience will undoubtedly have a profound impact on me but also on my own education and career.
I hope this opportunity and experience will contribute to a wider understanding of child development and the impact of the community on children’s development. The theory of a community having a huge impact on a child has been something I was interested in during my University studies. This is something that fascinates me and I would love to use that lens in another country in order to develop a broader understanding of these theories. I also hope it will give me a new perspective on life, a deeper appreciation for what I have available at home and to broaden my perspective to make me a more compassionate and globally aware individual. I'm confident that this volunteer trip will be a transformative experience, shaping my future in ways I can't yet imagine.
I'm raising money to help support my trip, the vital work of the childcare program and to provide much-needed resources for the children. Your generous donation will directly contribute to ensuring these children have access to quality care, educational materials, and a nurturing environment. Every contribution, no matter the size, will make a difference. Thank you for joining me on this incredible journey and helping me make a positive impact in Tanzania!
