Hello Everyone!

I just want to thank you all for taking the time to see my video and my page. It really means a lot!

As mentioned in my video, I hope to sail from the British Virgin Islands to Tahiti in the spring semester of 2019, from January 14th to April 14th, through a study abroad program called Seamester! Seamester offers study abroad voyages for high school graduates and college students who seek adventure in living aboard a sailing vessel while taking 12 college credits in Oceanography, Marine Biology, Introduction to Sailing and Nautical Science, and Student Leadership Development.

I have saved $8,000 and have 2 jobs; one at a warehouse and other as a sales representative for Cutco cutlery!

Going on this trip will allow me to experience learning in ways most have not. It will allow me to learn through doing, and teach me the values of teamwork, thriftiness, loyalty, and the world as a whole. Helping elementary school students in Dominica to learn about the marine life on their island will show me the importance and appreciation of learning for myself and for others.

As a 20-year-old who is just beginning to discover who I am and what my purpose is, it can be easy for me to be intimidated by this world of opportunity, creativity, and excitement that is my life. As young adults begin to move out on our own into the world, many of us become lost among the advice we are given and the world standing in front of us that we begin mindlessly going about our lives, leading ourselves to a place where we forget to live our lives as we could have. Programs like Seamester help students and young adults find ways to live their lives rather than simply deal with them. Seamester offers experiences that allow students to discover different ways of living, through creativity, experimentation, hard work, and discipline. I know these kinds of lessons and experiences will speak to me and drive me to a point where I create my own purpose and strive within it.

Thank you!
