I'm an early career researcher studying fifteenth-century Italian history, but alas, I'm based in Australia. So I'm packing my bags and taking a vital research trip to the heart of the Renaissance, to spend some time in the Florentine archives! This trip will allow me to work with some five-hundred year old original manuscripts, and to take part in an intensive course to develop my palaeography and language skills. This trip also offers the opportunity for me to present my research at an international conference which brings together Medieval and Renaissance scholars from all over the world (this will be my first paper, wish me luck!) History is my passion, and this trip will be a fantastic learning experience for me, giving me the chance to follow my dreams and begin my academic career... but I'll need all the help I can get!
