Cuban Culture, Society, and Politics Summer Adventure 2014
My Travel Story
Cuba known for its many titles such as Communisn, Dictatorship, and Poverty, I believe there is so much more to associate with Cuba. A vibrant culture, society and poilitics emerge from cuba that most people don't know about or get the opportunity to experience, one of the least visited countries by americans yet a land famous for the largest organic agricultural business in the world today. Their main avenue to a better economy built in a time of poverty, near famish and cut-off from the import/export consumerism of the west, Cuba shows resilliance, strength as a community of people, and exemplary potential to be one of America's great allies in the strive for world peace, eco-friendly conservation and opportunity for all people to advance in their society.
I am a student at PSU whos big wish is to help people in the world and make a difference wherever I can, small or big. I would very much like the opportunity to visit Cuba, in which I have studied for sociology, globalization, and government research to help bridge the opportunities for more americans to visit Cuba, and more cubans to visit America.
I believe it is important to take advantage of these opportunities because you truly never know what can arise out of any situation. I want to strengthen my networking, view of the world, and potentially create more avenues for students to participate in positive learning environments while getting an experience of another culture, language, government and society. The more we know about the world around us, the closer we are to accepting things as they are, and furthering our hope to make positive changes in the things we need to as a society and as a world.
Thank You,
Valeria
