Hello, Family and Friends!

I am so glad you have found this page.

Back in March of 2017, I was a student studying Biology at the University of Northwestern-St. Paul and a captain on the Women’s Soccer Team. As a team, we spent 10 days in Kenya during our Spring Break doing mission work and sharing the Good News of Christ. This trip brought me immense joy—I was able to be immersed in a new culture, experience God’s people across the world, and learn of a new outlook on life. Since this trip, I have continued to pray that God would present another opportunity to return.

It would take several years of applying to PA school, years of experience at ACR Homes and Children’s Minnesota, hours upon hours of essay writing, many tears and feeling unworthy, two interviews, and ultimately one acceptance to be where I am now.

Six years later, here I am, in my clinical (and final) year of PA school at Harding University in Searcy, Arkansas. The past year and a half have been some of the most challenging yet. In case you are unaware, PA school isn’t easy. While learning medicine, I have been stretched in my knowledge and have grown a deeper compassion for God’s people. I now have new skills and an even deeper faith to share with others. God has called me to physically serve His people, a calling I feel extremely honored to receive. Through all of this, I have continued to grow in my ability to trust God and His plan.

When I first learned of the option to participate in a clinical rotation abroad, I was excited, but guarded. Spending six weeks across the world seems a bit intimidating. But this is also something I have been praying for since I first visited. Another opportunity to travel to the place that taught me so much about who God is and how much He loves us. And this place would be only 30 minutes from where I last visited in Kenya. This, along with many other reasons, are ways in which I felt God calling me to go.

As with all decisions, there will be some sacrifices and challenges along the way. I will miss important moments back home while I am gone, I will miss being with Nate, my husband, and my dog, Marlo. However, I have felt God’s comforting hands guiding me to this decision and know that He has given me the skills and abilities I have to use throughout the world.

I am absolutely looking forward to this trip and the ways God will use this experience and His people to teach me more about His creation, the human body, and medicine. I will be participating with African Impact, a volunteer organization, beginning in August 2023 and returning in September 2023. Throughout my time in Kenya, I will be offering medical support and assistance at a local hospital and clinics as well as assisting with community home-based care to provide medical care to people with limited resources and access to care. Additionally, I will experience the complexities and challenges of public health care in a developing country while also improving my medical knowledge and skills.

I am so thankful for you. Thank you for taking the time to read this story and support me in this endeavor. If you are willing and eager, there are several ways you can support:

  • Please pray for the details to be worked out, for safe travels, for a rewarding and educational experience, for God to use me where I am needed, and for the people of Kenya.
  • If you feel lead, please consider giving through a monetary contribution to help with trip funds.
  • Please feel free to share my story with others you know who would be interested in following along and supporting me as well.
Again, thank you. Your support means so very much to me.

P.S. I hope to share blog posts during my time in Kenya for you to follow along as a way to thank you for your support. Details to come as time draws nearer.
