My Travel Story

While completing my cancer research project in Athens, I will also volunteer with refugees in a sports and arts program, using sports and arts as a means for these young refugees to express themselves, to connect with me!

Athens has welcomed many refugees over the last few years due to the disruption of peace in neighboring countries. Many families have been separated during their movement and many organizations have created various host centers where they can stay until they are reunited with their family members.

As a student on a journey to become a Doctor, I understand that empathy is one of the most important qualities that a Doctor should have. Medicine is a profession that emphasizes selfless service to others. These values are my own as well, and are the reason why I will take part in this program!
