This summer I will spend three weeks in the Dominican Republic with an organization called Frontier, a non-profit conservation and development non-governmental organization. In Santo Domingo, I will be volunteering at an orphanage to try and give back and help as much as I possibly can. In the Dominican Republic almost one in ten people live in extreme poverty and children tend to be put to the streets because families tend to be big and they do not have enough to take care of all of their children. Due to these factors, I chose this program because I believe that it will allow me to make a positive impact in the lives of others.
