My Travel Story

by: LeShae Philyaw Start Date: May 27, 2025 - End Date: Aug 4, 2025
This fall, I’m relocating to Guam for a year-long clinical psychology internship at the Guam Behavioral Health and Wellness Center — the final step before earning my PhD in Counseling Psychology. I’ll be providing trauma-informed, culturally responsive mental health services to a community with limited access to care.

As a Black queer woman, a disabled veteran, and a first-generation doctoral student, I know what it means to navigate systems not built for us. This opportunity is about more than professional growth — it’s about service, healing, and purpose.

Your donation will help cover relocation costs, housing deposits, and the safe transport of my emotional support dogs, Maximus and Pepé. With your support, I can start this next chapter fully grounded, ready to give my all to a community that deserves compassionate, affirming care.

This journey is the culmination of years of hard work, sacrifice, and faith. Thank you for helping me get there — and for being part of the village it takes to make this dream a reality.
