My Travel Story

Hello, my name is Pieter,

I need financial help and found fundmytravel.com. I have never done this before, so it feels weird and humbling.

In 2021, I moved to Spain from Hawaii to start a tech company with some work mates. Everything was going well until mid-2021 when Spain shut down many businesses due to Covid. My business and my colleagues' businesses were hit hard, and I lost my business, my apartment, and my dignity. Not speaking Spanish well enough to find work, made things even tougher.

For the last 2.5 years, I have been couch-surfing and relying on friends and colleagues who have generously taken care of me. My only income is social security, which I took early to survive during Covid. I've also tried to restart projects and business relationships, but many of my colleagues have not survived.

I want to go home. I need to raise money for my flight and related expenses. I have job opportunities and friends to help me network once I return. I also have new project ideas in the works and am optimistic about my future!

Any help from my fellow human beings would be greatly appreciated.
