My Travel Story

In my current role as a preschool teacher at my local charter school, I have had the opportunity to shape the minds and hearts of young children for the past three wonderful years. I am particularly proud of my work creating an inclusive classroom environment. I have been successful in accommodating children with various needs and learning styles, ensuring that every child feels valued and encouraged to participate.

When my friend told me about her experience in teaching abroad, I knew the opportunity of combining my love of teaching and desire to travel was going to be the next chapter in my life. This upcoming January 2025 I will be joining a group of volunteers for a 4 month volunteering program to Granada, Nicaragua. I will be a volunteer for an after-school program in an impoverished neighborhood with the goal of providing the local youth more opportunities. The school I will be working at has already became a place where kids can go to stay busy, get help with their homework, and have positive role models.

With my family’s help I was able to raise the funds to cover the cost of the volunteering program. As this is a once in a lifetime opportunity for me, I hope to use all of my free time during the weekends and holidays to further immerse myself in the surrounding culture. Travel to surrounding countries, buying local goods, and the occasional tourist excursions would add so much to my trip, but my funds are limited. 

I am asking for donations for my trip in hopes to add diversity in my experiences and excitement in the memories of my amazing upcoming trip. Anything you give will be greatly appreciated and directly responsible for memories I will cherish for the rest of my life.
