My Travel Story

My name is Alexa Bishop, I’m 17 years old, and will be a senior in high school this coming school year. I have started this gofundme page in hopes of being able to afford traveling and studying abroad. I hope to go to Seoul, South Korea this year in August, with a program called Education Frist if the world allows it. If not then as soon as I possibly can. Education First offers language immersion programs in countries worldwide that vary in length from as short as two weeks to as long as a year. The tuition fee for a two-week program is $2170.00. Any excursions offered through Education First are an additional charge and range in price. I am also responsible for paying for the round trip flight (currently estimated at $1100.00 and is sure to go up soon), snacks and at least one meal per day, souvenirs, and any incidentals that arise. The renewal fee for my passport will be no more than $175.00. I would love to go to Seoul to expand my knowledge about Korean culture and language but funding is difficult. Money is not something my family has a lot of. It is just my mom caring for me and my brother and her only source of income is disability pay. She stresses about being able to pay for my dreams and helping me make my dreams come true. I have a job and save about 80% of each paycheck however I have only saved pennies towards the total I need to study in South Korea. The best gift anyone could ever give me is a donation that allows me the opportunity to attend one of Education First’s language immersion programs in Seoul. Help and share as you are able.

Though I have not traveled much, I love to do it so much I started a blog called The Secret Atlas. My blog is still fairly new so it has little content.  I made it to help others and share my experiences with others. I plan to write about my advice on planning for travel, packing, and my overall experiences with traveling. Along with how to’s, what to do, being prepared, and travel basics. I am doing this all in hopes that it helps someone that needs help as I did when I first went abroad.
