My Travel Story

by: Melissa Bartlett Start Date: May 11, 2017 - End Date: Sep 10, 2017
I am a Registered Veterinary Technician (RVT) working in Liberty, Missouri at the Veterinary Center. Last year, I had the wonderful opportunity to work with World Vets in Shkoder, Albania where we helped to spay and neuter over 200 dogs and cats in 3 days. I am planning on volunteering again, this time in Siem Reap, Cambodia.
For the past two years World Vets has sent veterinary teams to Siem Reap to help facilitate much needed veterinary services for local animals. Veterinarians, registered technicians and assistants will help operate a field condition spay/neuter and animal health campaign to assist local efforts to control the local animal population, vaccinate against rabies and contribute to overall animal health in the area. As an RVT, I am responsible for setting intravenous catheters, inducting, monitoring and recovering patients from anesthesia, as well as administering post-surgical pain medications, flea and tick applications and vaccinations.
This opportunity is priceless; however, I am asking for your support and donations to help cover the costs associated with the program and for travelling to and from Cambodia. Any donation would be greatly appreciated. Thank you for taking the time to read this fundraiser and donating if you choose to.
