My Travel Story

Hello my name is Robert Stoenescu and I was born in Bucharest, Romania in 1968. In 1969 U .S. President Nixon came to my country to discuss trade and diplomacy with our Dictator President Ceausescu (ruled with tyranny for 26yrs til he was publicly executed by the people and hung up for display for his crimes in 1989). Well during President Nixon's visit to Romania, my father somehow got a letter with a picture of my family thru to the U.S. Diplomats. In the letter, my father told of the attrocities and persecution going on in my country by the extreme communist government (for the practice of worshiping God). In a political gesture of good intent, to President Nixon,my family and I were altogether allowed to leave the country legally. So my parents with 1 suitcase in hand, and 10 children boarded a plane for Roma Italy, with thousands of people looking on in disbelief. No one ever had been able, and still aren't able to leave a communist country to this day. I was just 1year old at the time when we left. I have never been back to Romania since we came to America, and I have to go back and see my heritage, and beautiful country. Unfortunately, I don't have the means financially to get there. I know the struggles are everywhere, and affecting just about everyone in the world right now. If anyone reading this right now has the means ,or anyone that can relate to why this a must for me, and can donate to my cause (without affecting their life styles), it would be greatly appreciated. I would be forever grateful for your generosity. Thanks for taking the time to read my reason for doing this.
