My Travel Story

Bonjour! My name is Áine Sweeney. I am 16 and from a small town in Ireland. I love French and would love to be given the opportunity to go on this cultural and language immersion into French cultural... except money is an issue. I work a weekend job, waitressing, trying to save up but it's hard to do so on minimum wage and I don't want to pressure my parents.

I was in France once before. I was volunteering with the Irish Pilgrimage Trust to bring disabled children to Lourdes for a week. Throughout the year, I had fund raised with my group to pay for the children's fare, by holding bake sales, bag packing and bucket collecting. The experience was so rewarding. I learned so much and gave back to the people in my community. But I also developed so much as a person, not only was I more aware of disability but also French culture. I loved everything about it. I only dream to go back, waking up to croissants, visiting Le Tobac and hearing the sweet french voice of the waiters.
