My Travel Story

My name is Deven Newton. When I was a child my grandmother would take me to the zoo every weekend after church. I have a love for all animals, but I was drawn to the elephants at the zoo. I would try to spend all my time at their exhibit. After awhile the zoo keepers got to know me and let me go inside the exhibit and took me on a ride on Sierra on of the elephants with the zoo keepers. Since getting older I've grown a love for my own animals but elephants have always been my passion. 
 I'm at a understand of zoos and the conservation of these maginificant creatures but also think they should have alot more room to roam and live more of a life as close to wild then Inside a small inclosure. I've been working full-time trying to save enough money to visit Africa to see how they are in the wild. I also would like to see how they are housed in africa. Where I can take pictures and get notes on African inclosures. With the information I would like to start my own journey on bettering the life for these animals that are going to continue to be caged as animals in display for human viewing. As my biggest goal eventually would be for a long term trip to Africa to help with the pouching of elephants for their tusks.
