Help a veteran
My Travel Story
I’m trying to help a retired Air force veteran.
He sold everything to get his goal (bucket List), a world trip.
So from the money he had saved and the money he got from selling his house, his cars and his motorbikes (Dnepr side car and a 350ss Harley Davidson)
He bought a new RAM truck a new fifth wheel trailer.
Whit this combination he is going on the road, he is living full time in his trailer.
But in the first year he had. Some bad luck. His roof got damaged, no warranty and the insurance paid half of it $12.500 so he had to pay $6000 + co pay $500.
During his trip the electric went out on a Friday evening, he called the factory, The were closed. So he called a repair man. He came over and did a quick solution. It worked. And Monday he came back and they called the factory again and they said he could do the repairs. So he did. He charged $1250. He e-mailed the bill to the factory. They said they would send him a check. It never came, even after calling several times.
Later his kitchen slide wouldn’t come in. So he called the factory, they told him to drive to a official dealer to get it repaired. Nearest dealer 95 miles out. He’s not going to drive 95 miles with a slide out open, so he called a technician that help him to get the slide out in. The bill $750 he paid it by himself because the factory had told him to go to the dealer.
His micro wave broke down, he called the factory, the told him he could buy a new one and the pay $450 back with a check. That also never came.
And during the first year the drapes fall down. Total repair costs $1000.
Several times the hydraulics didn’t work. Got repaired 3 times and still doesn’t work ok
While watching television one evening the large window above the seats popped out so a new window no warranty. $550 this happened now 5 times in 3,5 years. So total $2500 the fifth time he putted a plastic window in cheaper and doesn’t break so fast.
In the first year he spend so much money on his trailer that he couldn’t buy the Harley Davison try glide he wanted to have with him on the travels. He is still dreaming of it. Hopefully his dreams come true.
After a bit more than a year, they told him at a dealer ship that a lot of his problems came from 3 bended axels. He called the factory, and they told him the warranty was over and it was his problem. So three new axels at $4000 per axel. And six new tires because they were gone also, at $375 per tire. And $550 to put them on the rims.
The generator went broke and had to be repaired, luckily this had 3 year warranty. But to get it out of the trailer they had to rebuild the wire ring. And that was not under warranty. So rewire ring, costs $1250.
Refrigerator didn’t work anymore. Repair costs $2000.
Then covid came, and lots of rv centers where closed. he did a lot of repairs himself. During covid he went back to work as a truck driver to get some extra money to cover the extra costs that the factory didn’t pay him back. He even was at the factory to talk about it. But no the rules are the rules. And the checks they said they send them to him but he never collected them. So bad luck for him and the never wrote him new checks.
The refrigerator broke down again. Not to repair so a new one $5500.
That with all the small repairs he had to do it’s now far above $35000.
Now he has to go working every winter for extra cash to survive.
And from the extra cash he had he put 8 solar panels on his trailer and six lithium batteries in his trailer so he can save on fuel for the generator. But during a drive through the country one blew off. $250 extra costs.
That’s not what he had in mind when he got retired. He hoped he could travel the world with his combination.
The warranty is gone (not that it was something he had). Now he has again lot of costs, his refrigerator broke down totally ($3500, generator is down ($7500). The sound system stopped working ($1000) slide out cables start to break so need to be replaced. ($350 per cable, 12 times).
I’m hoping I can get $25.000 for him so he can go traveling like he wanted. When he got retired.
I’ll hope some of you can help me to get this for him. He deserve this.
So give this veteran his travels he wanted after serving the air force.
