My Travel Story

Hi there, and thank you for stopping by!

My name is Bella, and I'm currently a student looking to go on an adventure of a lifetime this summer.  I’m raising funds to cover the cost of my flight to Knysna Elephant Park in South Africa, where I’ve been accepted as a volunteer to care for rescued elephants. This opportunity is more than just travel, it is a lifelong dream and a chance to make a real impact on animal welfare and conservation whilst contributing to a sanctuary that gives these magnificent animals the life they deserve.

Elephants are intelligent, emotional creatures who have faced devastating threats from poaching, habitat loss, and abuse. Knysna Elephant Park is one of the first facilities in South Africa to house orphaned African elephants in a safe, ethical, and non-exploitative environment. As a volunteer, I’ll help with a range of activities including daily care and feeding, enrichment and habitat maintenance, observation and research, and public education.

I’ve always had a deep love for animals, and this experience aligns closely with my personal and professional goals. I hope to pursue a career in wildlife conservation and education, and volunteering at Knysna will provide the hands-on experience and perspective I can’t get anywhere else. I chose South Africa because it’s a global hub for conservation work, and because this sanctuary stands out for its ethical treatment of elephants, its transparency, and its focus on meaningful interaction without exploitation.

While I’m covering most of the costs myself, including the program fees, accommodation, and insurance, the cost of the flight alone is out of reach right now. That’s where I’m hoping for a little support!!

Every contribution, no matter the amount, brings me closer to the chance to help these animals and grow in the direction I know I’m meant to go. Even if you can’t donate, just sharing this page would mean the world to me!

Thank you so much for reading :)
