My Travel Story

by: Sophia Capo Start Date: Feb 4, 2017 - End Date: Aug 3, 2017
Immagine your life if one day, you just couldnt see. How would your life change? Over 200 million people are visually impaired worldwide.  To me, eyes are everything. They allow us to intepret every single thing around us and help coordinate our bodies to respond. I haven been accepted into an internship program in Dublin to volunteer at the NCBI (National Council For the Blind Ireland) alongside the medical professionals who are working to cure vision loss.  Some people I will be helping are seeing for the VERY FIRST TIME. The not-for-profit insitute helps the blind adapt to sight loss and maintain their independence. Help me fight blindness!

About Me:
I am a third year Univeristy student studying biomeical science. This trip will help me broaden my knowledge in the field, research about the low-vision technologies and techniques and allow me to provide a service to the community.  I hope to become a doctor of the eyes in a few years. Thank you for hearing my story and supporting my dream.
