My Travel Story

Hello from the mighty, little state of Vermont! My name is Tammy. I'm 56-years-old, happily partnered with my sweet husband of 20 years and a proud mama to an amazing teenager who lights up our life, not to mention the three rescue dogs who basically run the house! I have ovarian cancer - I'm not dying, this is not that kind of post - and I've been in treatment since August 2021. I feel good - life is full & happy. Like many people, I have a Life List (I dislike the term "bucket list") and something I've always dreamed of doing has presented itself and boy, do I want to do this! I have an opportunity to visit Ireland - did I mention I'm 53% Irish? Not only is this a chance to visit Ireland but visit with my sister and my best friend. Dreamy! And not just visit Ireland with my sister & best friend, but visit both Belfast, Northern Ireland AND Dublin. And get this. We are going to see Van Morrison perform, in his hometown of Belfast. Something that basically sounds impossible to this middle-aged, kinda tired, Van Morrison fanatic from Vermont. If I can rustle up the funds, though,
it will be possible. I feel weird doing this - asking strangers for money for a personal trip. To be honest, I don't expect to be successful here but why not try? It is not a trip to help people, or teach people, or study...it's a pleasure trip that will enrich three lives. We've never been a family with a lot of extra money but we have a good, solid life. My husband works in a local ski shop and I'm receiving social security as a result of my diagnosis. My sister and friend have offered to help me pay but they don't have a lot of moolah either and they've both done a lot for me in my life already. Anyway.
