My Travel Story
I am Lawrence mwangi. I live in the outskirts of Nairobi city in ongata rongai. I live in a double room but I don't live alone. I live with my mother and brother. In the year 2019 during COVID pandemic my brother who was at the time living in kawangware developed depression, stopped working and would drink alcohol all throughout. I went to his place after a neighbor called me and informed me that my brother had attempted commiting suicide several times. I convinced him to move in with me in a single room that i was living in at the time in ongata rongai. His condition worsened and so I took him to my mom's house. At the time my mom who had raised us as a single mom was living in a house she had been given by an uncle in nkoroi near kiserian. When I took my brother to live with her, and my uncle saw the condition he was in, they were both kicked out of the compound. I had to take them both in despite the fact that I did not have a permanent job. I work as a sales person for mobile phone accessories shop. I buy them in town and take them to the satellite towns around Nairobi where I sell the mobile accessories. With the small monies I had saved, I looked for a double room house where we all live since then. My brother has since been enrolled in a mental institution called Mathare mental hospital where he goes every month for clinic although it's quite expensive.
Why am I telling you all this? In order to try and expand my business and try to fend for my family members I need a means of transport to do so. All am asking for is an electric bicycle which costs around one thousand dollars in kenya. This amount is beyond my reach at the moment. My biggest daily expense is transport. I have to travel daily from ongata rongai to Nairobi where I pick up my sales products then travel to satellite towns near Nairobi to sell these products. When I get to my area of work I walk for kilometers trying to make a sale but with an e bike I will be able to cover a bigger area hence my chances of making sales better and will also be able to save more hence I will be able to help my family better.
