My Travel Story

For years, I’ve dreamed of taking my family back to Bosnia, the place where our roots run deep. As a refugee from the war in the former Yugoslavia, I was forced to leave behind everything familiar, carrying with me only memories of a homeland I’ve longed to see again. Now, decades later, I want to return—not just for myself, but to show my children the land of their ancestors, to reconnect with the culture, the people, and the history that shaped who we are.

Why This Trip Matters:

This trip is more than just a vacation—it’s a journey of healing and connection. My children have grown up hearing stories of Bosnia, of the beauty of its landscapes and the warmth of its people, but they’ve never had the chance to experience it themselves. I want them to walk the streets where I played as a child, to meet family members they’ve never known, and to understand the resilience of our people.

For me, this journey is about closure and renewal. It’s about finally coming full circle, returning to the place that I’ve missed so deeply, and sharing it with the people who mean the most to me. It’s a chance to heal old wounds, to pay homage to the past, and to create new memories in a place that has always felt like home, no matter how far away.
