My Travel Story
Luman's condition affects his mobility significantly—he cannot lift his head, speak, or sit upright and basically needs support in every aspect in his life. My mum is his full time carer.
Despite these challenges, his eyes light up every time he gets to experience something new, even if it's just through the car window. However, traveling in Nepal is tough. The infrastructure is not wheelchair accessible, and the travelling he wants to is beyond what my family can afford.
Our Travel Dream
I currently live in Sydney, Australia, working in the disability field. Every day, I see the incredible support systems, such as the NDIS, that empower people with disabilities to live fulfilling lives. It makes me dream of giving Luman an opportunity to experience even a fraction of that. My wish is to bring Luman, along with my parents, to Australia for a month.
This trip would mean everything to my family. It would be Luman’s first chance to experience accessible parks, beaches, and attractions without the barriers that confine him at home. It would also allow my parents, who have been selflessly caring for him, a much-needed break and the joy of seeing him thrive in a supportive environment.
Why We Need Your Help
I come from a middle-class family in Nepal, and while I’m earning here in Australia, it’s just enough to sustain myself .My parents have done their best—they even bought a small second-hand car to take Luman out on rare trips. But these outings are often bittersweet. Since Luman can't leave the car, we take turns enjoying the sights while someone stays with him. It’s time-consuming, limiting, and heart-wrenching to know he’s missing out on so much.
With your support, we can cover the costs of flights. I will work my best to cover any other expenses. This would allow Luman to have experiences he’s never had before—visiting parks, going to Woolworths, seeing new places, and simply feeling included in the world.
