My Travel Story

Gaby is a 12 year old Spina Bifida Spitfire!  gaby was born with the most sever form of spina bifida which has caused numerous health and social issues during her short time here. Hours after birth Gaby underwent both brain and spinal surgeries and spent a month in the hospital before she could come home. She has undergone more than 5 surgeries to date. Daily life is a struggle and basic living activities pose great obstacles.  Within the last 5 years she has lost both of her maternal grandparents, with whom she was extremely close, unexpectedly. She is unable to walk like her peers, she uses forearm crutches, she recently broke her leg and missed several months of school!  Middle school has been hard on this girl. Being different as you might imagine, isn't exactly "cool".  Kids make fun of Gaby and she doesn't have many close friends. She is a HUGE fan of Moana and often talks about going to Hawaii to see her. She also loves to experience new places, especially the shopping and their foods! Unfortunately, because of doctors visits and medical expenses we just can't seem to save up to take her and we are hoping this option might help! We want to see this girl come out on top and have a reason to put a great big smile on her face. We appreciate all of you for taking the time to stop and read her story!
