My Travel Story

Hello my name is Mia I am a biology major at Santa Barbra City College and if you where to have told me a year ago I was signing up to study aborad in Rome  I wouldnt have belived you. Since I was in highschool I have had the desire to go and study in a difrent country not only to learn more about the culture and people but to use/ practice my french speaking skills. I have been taking french classes since junior high so I have always been trying to put myself in a program in which I could do so. When I learned about study abroad program at Santa Barbra City College, I new I wanted to go on one of the trips offered; but due to my major, could not find room in my schedule to do so. It wasnt until I graduated and was about to transfer to a 4-year institution and I realized that this spring 2025 could quite possiblity be my only chnace to do what I've always wanted to do, which was to study abroad in a difrent country, learn the language, culture and history of the city I would be living in. I chose Rome becuase not only is it a city full of history but is close to culture riched citys like Greece, Paris, and Spain, giving me the chance to also learn about its neighboring cities.  This study abroad program gives me the oppurutinty to learn a new language, history, and culture of the city I am in, while also allowing me to see the way other people in the world live. As a student who plans to go into medicine, this is a possibiliy to see the lifestyle of other people in Europe and apply what I learn to my future. Donating anything for my study in Rome would be very helpful as you would be helping fund a once and a lifetime oppurtunity to study, learn and grow as an individual in a difrent country.
