My Travel Story

Since before I started college, my mother has been volunteering in Esperanza, Mexico every year to help build homes. She always returned feeling humbled with a sense of accomplishment, and with stories of being in another country and really immersing herself in their culture. I so badly wanted to go with her but something was always in the way; money, time, school, work, etc. I later decided that I wanted to join the global health service partnership with the Peace Corps after finishing nursing school and work in an underserved community for a year as a nurse. Unfortunately, that program was discontinued in 2018. I am now getting ready to go into my final year of nursing school, and I decided it was time to go for it.
I have only experienced the healthcare system in the United States. There are so many other methods of health care and it is always evolving, I hope to gain alternate perspectives. I also plan on working in a heavily Hispanic community when I graduate, I will experience patients who are not accustomed to our culture and language. So I hope to be competent in their cultural needs and confident in my Spanish skills so that I can bring my patients more comfort.
“Let the world change you," CFHI's slogan,  should be my own life’s motto. After a few years of experience, I want to be a travel nurse. The world is so full of so many different cultures, perspectives, and I want to allow those experiences to challenge what I think I know so that I never stop learning.

    Stickers, Prints, Paintings and Postponement
Stickers are happening! I've ordered them and will be giving them out soon.

I have also reached the $200 mark so prints are also in the works!

For those who have donated $50 or more, it will take me a bit to get your custom pieces done, but I promise they will happen!

Out of precaution due to COVID-19, my trip is being postponed and I will instead be going to Argentina in January of 2021. Thank you so much to everyone who has donated so far
