My Travel Story

Greetings to friends, family, mentors, and strangers! My name is Liv Scott and I'm currently fundraising to go on the trip of a lifetime... I hope to travel to Nusa Penida---a small island off the coast of Bali, Indonesia---in the Summer of 2024, where I'll be participating in a local sea turtle conservation effort. Not only am I passionate about expanding my understanding of the world, but this work will help rehabilitate and care for injured sea turtles until they are ready to be released. This conservation project will also go towards research that I will use in my senior capstone project, discussing the impact of voluntourism and the importance of ethical travel in relation to psychology.

My hope is that by embarking on this first journey, I will be able to go on many more in the future, and make small impacts along the way. The goal is to enact greater change, and inspire many more to do the same! During this trip, I will be working on projects at a local turtle rescue; my daily tasks will include scrubbing turtles, collecting eggs, cleaning regional beaches, and monitoring the progress of turtles at the rescue.

Your contribution will go towards travel fees, volunteer efforts, and accomodations during my stay. These funds also help ensure that this effort can continue long after my experience ends! Any help is appreciated, included sharing (I will also be opening an Etsy to contribute to my fundraising efforts, so keep an eye out)!
