Help Akinpelumi to gain experience at Manchester ($6,000)
My Travel Story
According to a global comprehensive report published in the medical journal THE LANCET in 2015, more than 71.3% of deaths are related to dietary and lifestyle choices. However, with the increasing population of youths in Africa who perpetually go after the consumption of convenient foods to create more time for work, the economic health of Africa is at great risk since this youth population forms the strength of any nation's workforce and by implication any health risk posed to this population group could mean a shortage in the labour force. The consumption of unhealthy fast food is a predisposing factor for cardiovascular diseases which has been found to be among the leading cause of depression (food-mood nexus).
Though certain prevention programmes have been shown to reduce depression but little attention is given to the dietary aspect of the intervention. Also, "The 2015 Global Nutrition Report indicates that every $1 of investment in nutrition yields $16 in benefits across health and productivity".
Hence, the reason for the existence of ARCHI YAM BURGER, a rapid response to the quest for a healthy, nutritious yet affordable fast food that saves time and revamps energy while promoting health. As a trained and certified nutritionist, I have a strong drive for food innovation and an unrelenting commitment to global heathy consumption campaign.
After careful consideration on where to learn at an international level how to meet this demand, I have finally settled for HMS Host International in Manchester Airport (a perfect picture of a busy hospitality environment).
HMSHost UK has been serving guests at Manchester Airport with the signature HMSHost attention for more than ten years. The five new stores at the new terminal boost the company’s presence in Manchester Airport to 12 stores. The new stores were opened in July 2021 and this opened opportunities for hospitality associates (like me) to come and put our expertise to work while learning at an international hospitality company.
I strongly believe getting this experience is a step in the right direction to hit the ground running and contribute to the global healthy consumption campaign, especially for people on the move (travellers and on-the-go eaters).
