My Travel Story

Since freshman year of high school, I have been eager to study abroad. It was actually a major factor when deciding where to go to college. At the University of Georgia, studying abroad is both accessible and encouraged. I have found countless travel opportunties, each one more exciting than the next. I hope to spend a semester in the Spring of 2021 in Amsterdam, Netherlands where I will be taking both cultural courses as well as science lectures pertaining to my major (genetics) taught by instructors from Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam. I chose to go to a school 8 hours away from the only place I have ever known in hopes of pushing myself out of comfort zone. But now that I'm here, I want to take it one step further. I know that studying in Amsterdam for such an extended period of time will help me to gain perspective and appreciation of other cultures. Studying abroad has always been the dream for me and now that I am in college, I realize how important it is to take advantage of the opportunites presented to you before life gets in the way and they disappear.
