My Travel Story

Hi All! I've recently been accepted to a volunteer program in South Africa for 4 weeks- during my time there, I will be providing care to orphaned rhinos. I could not be more excited to finally be doing this volunteer work in SA, as it's something I've always wanted to do!

To give you some background, rhino poaching in South Africa is rapidly escalating, leaving behind many orphaned calves. The facility I will be working with provides specialist care for traumatized and injured infant rhinos. I will focus on hand rearing baby rhinos, veterinary care, nutrition and the rehabilitation of rhino calves. The majority of the animals are cared for with the purpose of rehabilitating them into their natural habitat, rather than keeping them in captivity. Where this is not possible, they provide a sanctuary for orphaned or severely injured wildlife.

I've decided to reach out to friends and family to assist with one portion of the program fee- the program donation. Any donations to help this dream come true are greatly appreciated!
