I am Hamida Mahziar, a defense lawyer and a member of the Afghan Defense Lawyers Association and also a defender of women's rights. During the republican government, I had several court cases in which the other party was a member of the Taliban. At that time, I was threatened with death by several criminals and the Taliban. Due to these threats against me and my family, I had to flee Afghanistan with my wife and daughter and am currently living in Pakistan. I also worked with an American company for 3 years, through which we were introduced to the US resettlement program and the P2 program. After a long wait in Pakistan, we finally passed the interview and medical at the US Embassy in Islamabad in November 2024 and were waiting for our flight to travel to the US to be scheduled. Unfortunately, with the order of President Trump, our transfer process to the US was suspended. Currently, we are facing a very difficult economic situation here in Pakistan because during the 2 years we were in Pakistan, all the money and property we had was spent and now I have nothing to spend on living expenses. I am facing mental and economic problems, sometimes even committing suicide. I think because the living conditions here are very difficult and sometimes I have been sold because of economic problems. I think because no one from my family and relatives can help me financially and because of the threats we face in Afghanistan I cannot return to Afghanistan, and here in Pakistan the refugees are living in difficult conditions and there is no work for us here. I hope you understand me and help me financially as much as you can so that with your help and support I can cover my living expenses and also the cost of traveling to a country that will grant me asylum. I am waiting for your help and support.
