Civic Engagement to Costa Rica
My Travel Story
In order to progress to third year of my nursing degree I am required to complete 160 Civic Engagement hours before the beginning of September. Regardless of my academic performance, I will be kicked off the course if I do not complete these hours!
Therefore, I've made the decision to go to Costa Rica and join a volunteering program providing care to the elderly and those with additional support needs in the local care facilities situated in San Jose.
So why Costa Rica? Well, it's a beautiful country and I'm keen to explore the difference culture and attitudes towards to mental health. It was also one of the cheaper healthcare programs and I could just about scrape the fee together. Plus, it didn't seem as isolating as other destinations due to having a basic understanding of Spanish.
I've worked too hard to get this far and to fail now... that's just not an option.
Any donations will be greatly appreciated. Funds will go towards purchasing PPE, food and travel costs.
