My Travel Story

I was born in the Philippines, a tropical paradise filled with lush landscapes and vibrant culture. My earliest memories are of warm sunlight streaming through the leaves of coconut trees, the laughter of my cousins playing tag in our backyard, and the delicious aroma of adobo wafting through our home. However, when I was just a child, my family migrated to the United States in search of better opportunities.

Growing up in America was both exciting and challenging. I learned new customs, made friends from different backgrounds, and adapted to life in a fast-paced world. Yet, amid all these changes, there was always an ache in my heart — a longing for the Philippines that I couldn't fully articulate.

As I matured and began to understand my heritage better, that ache became more pronounced. I realized that while I'd created a life for myself here, I didn’t know much about my roots — the very place that had shaped me. It felt as if I were walking on two paths: one leading me forward into new experiences and opportunities while the other drew me back to where it all began.

I spent time reconnecting with relatives who welcomed me with open arms. We gathered around tables laden with dishes that danced on my taste buds — lumpia crispy enough to crackle and sinigang bursting with flavors that brought back sweet memories associated with family dinners long ago. Together we explored ancestral homes filled with laughter echoing our shared stories.
Each moment helped me weave together threads from two worlds: America’s excitement matched beautifully by the rich tapestry of Filipino culture.

My journey wasn’t just about visiting landmarks or tasting traditional dishes; it was about understanding who I am at my core. It taught me that no matter where life leads us—no matter how far we wander—we can always find solace in our roots through love and shared experiences.

Now whenever nostalgia hits or life feels overwhelming here in America, I close my eyes and can almost hear those joyful echoes from home calling me back—reminding me that identity is a beautiful blend arising from both where we've been as well as where we're headed next.
