My Travel Story

by: Carsyn KingCooper Start Date: Aug 9, 2014 - End Date: Dec 6, 2014
Volunteering has always been an important part of my life. This trip speaks to me on so many levels; my deep-seeded love of women's studies ingrained in me by my mother, my passion for learning and embracing other cultures, and my desire to see the world, not only as myself but also through the eyes of the natives in that area. From a young age my mother cultivated and nurtured my love for the world around me, leading the way with a commitment to helping anyone who needed it. Throughout my life I have pursued the simple tenants learned in my youth: treat others as you would want to be treated, help those around you regardless of what you have to give, and always be curious and accepting of the world surrounding you.

At 18 I chose to serve in the United States Army. My service has taught me an immense amount of patience, attention to detail, and to appreciate the little things in life. I joned the service in order to gain a better understanding of our great country and the role the military plays in the way our country works. It has fed my desire to better understand not just the world immediately surrounding me but the entire world.

Some of my biggest goals involve trying to understand why those who have the least are the most willing to give and why societies demonize other cultures. I would love to bring my life experiences, coupled with my curiosity and openness, to foreign lands. I feel I am an excellent representative to visit other countries, working as an American ambassador showing anyone willing to look that this soul cares about the world in a way that has a gentle grace and dignity.

My future goals include working for the United Nations, Red Cross, and YMCA. As well as continuing to volunteer with BBBS, Habitat for Humanity, and anywhere else I might be needed.

During this trip I'd be traveling to DelhiIndia where I'll take a week of Language and Orientation after that I'll start a three week program with  Women Empowerment, and than two weeks working with local Street Children before I take my finally adventure to Shanghai, China where I'll be working with Disabled Youth

I'd appreciate any sort of support weather it's monetary or you help spread my campaign by sharing my story with Friends, Family, and Co-Workers.

Thank you for taking the time to read my story.

  • I Made A Flyer..

I created a flyer hopefully to help spread my story. I can't seem to figure out how to attatch it but if you would like to post flyers around on my behalf I'd highly appreciate it, given I can't be in every town in every state all in one weekend. Please Email me if your interested in helping.
